Recently there  have been many technologies that use energy more efficiently to reduce mankind’s strain on the planet. With increasing development in various field , there are more upcoming ideas related to develop different gadgets which are energy efficient and help to produce energy that can be utilized. One such device is the Soccket football created by New York-based firm, Uncharted Play.


 

The Soccket is a football which converts the kinetic energy from kicks into electrical energy and stores it so that it can be used at a later time. This energy can be used to power lights and small appliances via a USB port. Football uses the firms patented G-Kick Technology which consist of  a pendulum inside the ball that swings every time the ball is kicked, consequently running a generator connected to a rechargeable battery. According to the company, when the ball is kicked for half an hour , it will provide three hours of electricity, which can even be used to charge a smartphone via the USB port.


The soccket ball costs $99 and can be ordered from the website of Uncharted play.The ball is made up of foam and leather. It never inflates. The soccket project initially was a huge campaign that achieved $92,296 but the goal was of $75,000.The firm has tested the ball in poor communities in Mexico, Brazil, South Africa and says that it is ideal for areas with basic electrical networks. The company also claims that the ball is sturdy and can be kicked around without damaging the insides. This ball seems to be a helpful gadget for those people who needs a mobile charger where it is not easily available. So now kick it and produce electricity.

Sunlight,necessary and important but since the invention of electricity and our busy daily life in offices and colleges we could hardly found some time to spend in sun. So Anton Harfmann, Associate Dean and Professor of Architecture and Interior Design, and Jason Heikenfeld, Professor of Electrical Engineering, have collaborated on a project that could bring natural daylight to us in the offices.Offices are usually occupied during daytime hours, and natural sunlight delivers a spectrum of light that’s most conducive to productivity and psychological well-being.

Hence, it makes much more sense to have as much natural lighting as possible during the duration of office hours. Unfortunately, that is not very easy to execute since not every office has a window, and even where there are windows, the most sunlight these offices get throughout the day is for an interval of a few hours or so, because of the movement of the sun throughout the day.

 Water sources are being depleted at an alarming rate and scientists are struggling hard to come up with possible solutions to this dilemma. While their efforts continue, we have a breakthrough in Peru. Researchers have joined forces with an ad agency to provide a feasible solution for the shortage of potable water in Lima.  The problem of shortage of drinkable water is a serious one and required urgent attention. After some serious work, researchers have a viable solution that is brilliant and yet quite simple; a billboard capable of turning air humidity into drinkable water. According to the map the city of Lima lies towards the northern edge of Atacama – The driest desert in the world, and its surrounding villages hardly get 0.51 inches of precipitation per year. The capital city relied for a long time on runoff from glaciers and drainage from the Andes Mountains. However, climate change has made supply from both sources even scarcer.
